Kodak Black Facing Jail Time After Failing Drug Test

An arrest warrant has been issued for Kodak Black. He failed a drug test while on bail for drug trafficking.

On Thursday, Judge Barbara Duffy issued the warrant after Black was five days late for his scheduled drug test. When he did submit his sample, it tested positive for fentanyl. The drug tests were a part of the pretrial bail for the case that alleged he trafficked oxycodone in July. Because Black was late on the tests and failed them, that bail is now revoked.
Kodak Black’s crime
Black was found with 31 oxycodone pills and $75,000 in cash in his vehicle on July 15, 2022. The police had pulled him over for a possible illegal tint on his vehicle’s windows when they found the drugs. When brought in front of a judge, Black pleaded not guilty. He was probably hoping his lawyer would be able to get him out of trouble, despite the strong evidence against him.

This is not the first time that Kodak Black has brushed up against the law. Last year, he was arrested for trespassing. In 2019, he was arrested for providing false information to the government on required firearms paperwork. In 2020, Trump commuted that last sentence.

Just because he has a record, that does not mean Black hasn’t also done some philanthropy in his life. There are plenty of examples to choose from. He had paid the rent of 28 families about to face eviction, for example.

Oxycodone and fentanyl are synthetic opioids. When not used to get high, they are for treating severe pain, usually after surgery. They are actually only illegal when not prescribed and properly administered at medical facilities. Unless Black had secretly undergone surgery or something, there should not be any fentanyl in his system.
