Joey Bada$$ & Ab-Soul Reflect On Capitol STEEZ’s Death In New Song ‘Survivor’s Guilt’

Joey Bada$$ dropped his new song “Survivor’s Guilt” which sees the Brooklyn rapper touching on the death of Capital STEEZ. Unfortunately, Steez took his own life almost 10 years ago at the young ripe age of 19 years old. This new record comes on the late Capital STEEZ’s birthday & features an interlude from TDE’s Ab-Soul recounting their first meeting. Joey & the entire Pro Era collective were heavily impacted by the death of who many believe could’ve become one of the greatest. Joey & Ab-Soul’s Lyrics About Steez
Despite not getting a verse from Ab-Soul, it’s amazing hearing these two express their raw emotions on their contributions. “Now my n-gga gone, he will never be forgotten/Ever since he left I’ve just been struggling without him,” is just one example of the lines Joey spits in reference to his late friend & collaborator Capital Steez. Ab-Soul gives an insightful interlude that truly paints the story of his connection with Steez & Pro Era in totality. After showing a mutual friend music before meeting Steez, Soul says, “Fast forward a year later, I go back to New York and then I meet this kid. He’s like, ‘I don’t know if you remember me and my homies, the Pro Era.’ I was like, ‘Yeah! What’s your name?’ He said, ‘Capital STEEZ.’” Honestly, it would’ve been exciting to see the music all 3 artists could make together.
